Queen Maxima takes centre-stage at Royal Ascot with a seat alongside Queen Elizabeth

Also in the lead carriage arriving at the wet racecourse was the King of Netherlands and Andrew, Duke of York. Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William are also at today’s racing, alongisde Prince Charles and Camilla in the second carriage. Royal Ascot has been hit with rain so far today.

The Queen was wearing a cornflower blue hat and coat.

As the carriages made there way to the course the roofs were on the carriages. 

These were brought down as they entered the venue, leaving the royals to brave the wet and windy conditions.

Spain’s King Felipe and Queen Letizia are also expected at the event.

The Princess Royal was in the third carriage, alongside Lord de Mauley and the Earl and Countess of Wessex. 

Following them was Princess Alexandra, Edward Young and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.
