She made the remark during a visit to the Edinburgh Climate Change Institute with Princess Anne. It was her final engagement as part of her Royal Week visit to Scotland.
The Queen arrived at the University of Edinburgh premises in a hybrid Land Rover, remarking “it’s electric” as she exited the vehicle.
The 95-year-old later travelled the length of the country to attend the first day of the Royal Windsor Horse Show in Berkshire, beaming with joy as she watched the action.
Today she hosts German Chancellor Angela Merkel at Windsor Castle.
