Her Majesty is mourning the death of her husband of 73 years, the Duke of Edinburgh, who died at the age of 99 earlier this month. Prince Andrew had said the Queen described the passing Philip as “having left a huge void in her life” The Queen, who turned 95 last Thursday, is the longest-serving state leader in the world, and following the death of Philip, there has been speculation over whether she may step down early from the role as head of the monarchy.

The Queen’s eldest son, Prince Charles, is next in line to the throne and is the longest-serving heir apparent to the British throne, having held the role for more than 68 years.

The Prince of Wales, along with his eldest son Prince William, are reportedly set for crunch talks with the Queen about the future direction of the Royal Family and possibly slimming down senior members on frontline duties.

Conservative MP and Royal Family enthusiast Andrew Rosindell said “everyone is concerned for the Queen” as she has lost her husband who had been so close to her side for 73 years.

But he has backed Her Majesty not to abdicate the throne, with the help of Royal Family members rallying behind her with support.

Mr Rosindell told Express.co.uk: “Everyone is concerned for the Queen – she has relied on him and been with him for 73 years.

“For him to be suddenly gone, must have a huge impact on her.

“She will have people rallying around and supporting her to ensure she can carry on with her duties because we need her so much.

“I remember when the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret died, and they died pretty soon after each other, the Queen is used to grief, especially when you remember her father died when she was young as well.

“She will cope, she’s a strong person, she will get through this and her family will rally behind her.”

The Royal Family enthusiast does not believe abdicating the throne should happen, adding describing the suggestion of such a move and giving up her role is “unthinkable”.

He has backed her to continue in her current role “until her life is over” as she fulfils her lifelong commitment to her country and the Commonwealth.

Mr Rosindell said: “I’m certain the death of Prince Philip will affect her but I’m also sure she will come through this and will not change her duty to the country.

“I can’t see the Queen abdicating the throne and I don’t think it should happen.

“I don’t think anyone should even suggest it because the idea the Queen would give up her role is unthinkable.

“She has dedicated her life to serving the country and the Commonwealth.

He added: “There is absolutely no way the Queen should relinquish that role and will carry on until her life is over.

“If you have a monarchy, that’s what should happen otherwise if you don’t carry on until the end, then it’s almost a short-term job rather than a lifelong commitment.

“The Queen has made that lifelong commitment and I can’t see her doing anything other than carrying on in that role.”
