The Queen expressed her “delight” and sent along “well wishes” to her grandson Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle after the couple’s baby announcement. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed that they are expecting their second child this year. Royal biographer Angela Levin told ITV’s Good Morning Britain that the news was both happy and sad due to Archie Harrison’s relationship with the monarch.

She said: “The worrying thing, of course, is will this new baby ever see their father’s family?

“I think there’s a doubt over that.

“They’ll be a little American, they can also be English too.

“But will the royals ever see them?”

Ms Levin continued: “I think the Queen made a very nice comment that everybody’s delighted, and of course they are.

“But there is a sadness underneath that she hasn’t seen Archie as a person for a very long time.

“So there’s a sorrow even though they will be her eleventh great-grandchild, which will be quite amazing.

“But I do think it’s quite sad as well as being happy.”

There is no due date confirmed for the child yet though.

However, commentators have predicted that it will likely be a summer baby.

The new royal will be the Queen’s 10th or 11th great-grandchild depending on the arrival.

Princess Anne’s daughter, Zara Tindall, is also expecting a baby this year.

Princess Eugenie gifted the monarch with her ninth great-grandchild when she gave birth last week.
