Queen hiring new staff – your chance to work for the Royals at Buckingham Palace
The Queen is looking for an Assistant Housekeeper and a Gardener for Buckingham Palace. She is also on the hunt for a Housekeeping Assistant to be based at Windsor Castle.
The positions are advertised on the Royal Household website.
The Assistant Housekeeper will be paid up to £33,000 a year, depending on experience.
The role is described as “varied and dynamic”.
The Assistant Housekeeper will be a “a driving force behind the housekeeping team”.
They will “support the Housekeeper in delivering housekeeping services to the highest standard”.
The Gardener vacancy is a live-in position with meals provided, and the salary is from £18,100.
Duties including mowing, edging, raking, re-seeding and planting new shrubbery.
The advert says: “In conserving the garden’s rich biodiversity, you’ll contribute to its unique history whilst learning from expert colleagues.”
The Queen is looking for a candidate who will “take great pride in your work and will be motivated to present gardens to exceptional standards”.

The Housekeeping Assistant position is based at Windsor Castle, near Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s home Frogmore Cottage, and also involves travelling to other royal residences.
The advert says: “This is a career pathway in hospitality that will develop your housekeeping skills and expertise.
“Joining our professional team, you’ll upkeep, clean and care for a wide range of interiors and items, ensuring they’re presented to their very best.
“Learning from your colleagues, you’ll gain the specialist professional skills needed, always aiming for the highest standards.
“And you’ll welcome and take care of guests at functions and events.”
The salary is not specified but other benefits include access to catering and recreational facilities plus the option to live-in.
