Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge looked radiant at the Christmas Carol concert in a Catherine Walker red dress with a bow design. The Duchess donned the Queen’s precious sapphire and diamond fringe earrings for her special concert in honour of the emergency services staff. The beautiful earrings were once a part of the Queen Mother’s collection which has been passed down to Her Majesty.
Daily Mirror’s Royal Editor Russel Myers said: “Kate looked rather lovely. I gave my fashion verdict, a Catherine Walker coat and some earrings borrowed from the Queen.”
Pod Save the Queen host Zoe Forsey said: “When I first saw the Queen… the earrings, I thought they were ones of Princess Diana that matched the engagement ring but they are not.
If you look at them closer, they are more dangly diamonds coming off the bottom.
Mr Myers said: “Pearl drop, that’s all I know about the diamonds.
Ms Forsey replied: “Rather lovely.”

The delicate earrings are made up of a diamond stud with a large sapphire dangle surrounded by diamonds.
The Duchess of Cambridge wore them only once before when she attended the 100 Women in Hedge Funds gala in 2015.
The original wearer of the piece, Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, first donned the pair in the 1960s and are believed to have been created from a sapphire demi-parure the royal received as a wedding gift from Queen Mary.
The stunning set did not take away from Kate’s “clever” decision to have all the attention focussed on her guests rather than on herself being a part of the Royal Family.

While Kate wrote the order of service she did not deliver any speech during the concert
The order of service read: “We have lost loved ones, seen our frontline workers placed under immeasurable pressure, and we have experienced heart-wrenching isolation from those we hold most dear.
“Alongside this, we have seen how communities have come together to support those most in need.
“And through our separation from others, we have been reminded just how powerful human connection is to us all.

“Just how much we need one another. And how loving and feeling a sense of belonging to one another can provide comfort in tough times. The importance of simply being together.”
The televised concert was also attended by Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton with her siblings, James, and Pippa Middleton.
However, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s children, George, Charlotte, and Louis gave the event a miss as the couple hardly ever involves them in royal engagements.
Royal biographer Duncan Larcombe said: “The reality is that William and Kate have a rule that they do not take the children on any official engagements.
“We only really see them on the balcony waving at set-piece royal events, but there are exceptions to that rule like when George was at Wembley for the Euros final.
He further added: “It was on a school night and they are pretty strict.
“The children are in a rather strict regime so that might have been the reason, but the fact it was a televised official engagement it’s interesting because I think it shows that William and Kate are still reluctant to focus too greatly officially on their family and their children.”
