Queen fury: ‘What the hell?’ Monarch’s rare outburst after trip to Sandringham exposed
Queen Elizabeth II, 94, is a monarch cherished the world over. Some of the more intimate moments of Her Majesty’s life have remained behind closed doors. But after three decades covering the Royal Family the London Evening Standard’s Royal Editor Robert Jobson has acquired an anecdote or two on the UK’s illustrious figurehead.

Mr Jobson this week joined ITV Royal Editor Chris Ship and royal expert Lizzie Robinson on ITV’s Royal Rota podcast.
Discussing his new book, ‘The Royal Family Operations Manual’ Ms Robinson asked Mr Jobson for the “most surprising nugget of information” he gleaned during his research on the project.
The veteran royal reporter said: “One fun thing that did jump out: there were a few pictures I took in it.
“On a day when the Queen had come back from Sandringham on her summer break, a friend of mine had brought his son along who was about ten.
“He was being a pain so I said, ‘here’s my camera, just go and take pictures of the Queen’.
“So he was running around all over the place with this huge camera getting on everyone’s nerves.
“And the Queen obviously wondered what the hell he was doing!
“He was taking these pictures and she was staring right down the barrel!”
“He was eventually shoved behind everybody else.”
Mr Ship wondered if the boy’s antics had sparked fury among the official royal photographers.
He asked: “I can imagine he wasn’t very popular with the other photographers? You know what they are like when anyone gets in front of any of their shots.”
To which Mr Jobson replied: “Well, they were all sweet to him… at first…”

The Queen has recently been forced to scale back on many of her planned royal duties and celebrations for her birthday because of the ongoing coronavirus epidemic ravaging the UK.
Her birthday public celebrations were called off this year because the monarch did not believe they would be appropriate in the circumstances.
Her Majesty’s annual Trooping the Colour event to mark her official birthday in June has also been cancelled this year.
Tweeting about the move Mr Ship wrote: “All of the changes are ‘in line with Her Majesty’s wishes.
“It’s already been announced there will be no Trooping the Colour ceremony in June (the official birthday parade) and no plans for any ‘alternative marking of her official birthday.’”
