According to royal biographer Robert Lacy, Harry flew into a rage when his bride-to-be was denied her first option while picking out her wedding day tiara. His latest book Battle of Brothers, which went on sale today, claims the day the couple went to choose the item ended up in a right royal row.The book claims the Queen wasn’t happy when Harry said “what Meghan wants, Meghan gets” after she was denied her first option and offered a few firm words for her grandson.

Not for the first time, nor sadly the last, the word ‘no’ pushed a button inside him and he flew into a rage

Mr Lacy writes: “Not for the first time, nor sadly the last, the word ‘no’ pushed a button inside him and he flew into a rage.

“There were dressers and flunkies present, guarding and organising the jewels, so it was inevitable that his now-famous exclamation should find its way to the outside world – What Meghan wants, Meghan gets!

“Her Majesty did not approve.

“‘Meghan cannot have whatever she wants,’ she was reported to have replied.

“‘She gets the tiara that she’s given by me’.”

The version of events described in Battle of Brothers differs wildly from another recent book about Harry and Meghan.

Finding Freedom, by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, suggests the meeting was “a lovely occasion” and that Meghan was dismayed by reports of an alleged row.

Speaking to True Royalty TV’s The Royal Beat, Mr Scobie said: “The tiara selection went wonderfully. The Queen was very happy, Meghan was very happy.

“In fact Meghan’s words when that story came out were ‘how sad, I love my tiara’.”

But Mr Scobie said there was “drama” in the weeks that followed.

He said the Queen’s dressmaker and close friend Angela Kelly made things difficult for the bride-to-be when she tried to arrange practise fittings.

He said: “The drama took place afterwards, when Meghan wanted to try that tiara on with her hair stylist, because there is a lot of tech that goes into this.

“They had to do an experiment with that before the wedding day.

“The hairstylist came in from overseas, there was an appointment at Buckingham Palace, but nobody was there.

“Each time Angela Kelly isn’t available to arrange this, to facility this, despite agreeing to.”

He said the delays reached a point where staff around Harry and Meghan were tearing their hair out because the wedding day was getting closer and months had passed.

Mr Scobie said this is when Prince Harry decided he had to step in.

He said: “Harry had to intervene. He called his grandmother and said, ‘I don’t know what the hell is going on, but this woman needs to make this work for my future wife’.

“We can kind of see now where this ‘what Meghan wants, Meghan gets’ narrative came from.

“Harry felt that there were those within the institution that would stop at nothing to at the very least to make Meghan’s life difficult.

“Meghan didn’t get to try the tiara on again until a few days before the wedding.”
