Meghan Markle did not expect to be invited to the Queen’s state funeral, according to a royal expert. Citing sources, Neil Sean claimed that the Duchess of Sussex had in fact “been resigned” to the idea of missing the funeral. However, Meghan was invited and attended the funeral on Monday this week alongside her husband Prince Harry.
The pair had been in the UK at the time of the Queen’s death and stayed in the country during the period of mourning.
Mr Sean told viewers on his YouTube channel: “According to a very good source, Meghan did not actually think she was going to be invited.
“She was resigned to that fact, and totally understood if that was the case.
“Apparently, she did not want the focus to be on her.”

Mr Sean speculated on why Meghan perhaps expected to miss the funeral.
The royal expert said: “Could it be that Meghan realised the frostiness from all the things she has said over the last two and a half years?”
Mr Sean went on to praise the Duchess for her “respectful” behaviour during the funeral ceremony.
However, he observed that “there was a definite gulf between all the senior royal ladies and Meghan” during the public events.

Harry and Meghan finally headed home to California this week after the Queen’s death extended their visit overseas.
The Duke and Duchess flew home on Tuesday, one day after attending the late monarch’s funeral service.
Their two children – Archie and Lilibet – had remained in California.
Harry’s US return comes amid claims that he is “desperately” trying to make last-minute changes to his tell-all memoir, which was due out this year.

A source told The Sun on Sunday: “The publishers paid $20million up front because they knew whatever was written would be huge for sales and exposure all around the world.
“But the first draft they received was disappointing as it was a bit too emotional and focused far more on mental health issues than they wanted.
“Eventually, the final draft has been finished and signed off and a lot of money and energy has been spent to make sure it comes out this year.
“But Harry has thrown a spanner in the works as he is desperate to get it refined in the light of the Queen’s death, her funeral and his father Charles taking the throne.
“There may be things which might not look so good if they come out so soon after the Queen’s death and his dad becoming King.
“He wants sections changed. It’s not a total rewrite by any means. He desperately wants to make changes. But it might be too late.”
