The Queen is back on “good form” as one of her favourite aspects of royal work has returned, commentators have claimed. The monarch appeared to be “really enjoying herself” during her latest very busy schedule, including meeting the leader of Australia. ITV Royal Rota podcast hosts Lizzie Robinson and Chris Ship discussed how she fared with the various events.
Ms Robinson told listeners: “I think she’s really enjoying herself and really enjoying being back out and about.
“We know that they’ve all found it difficult not doing the face-to-face engagements.
“It must have been particularly strange for the Queen.
“She’s been doing this her whole life and to sort of not be out and about seeing people and world leaders over the last year must have been particularly strange and difficult for her.”
The host continued: “The Queen had her first in-person audience for about 15 months when she met Scott Morrison, the Prime Minister of Australia.
“I think, over the last few weeks, these really big events that she’s done on a world stage with world leaders she’s looked really delighted to be back doing those things face-to-face.
“I think she’s looked really happy and engaged and we’ve heard some quite funny lines from her like she’s really enjoying herself.”
The Australian Prime Minister told the monarch that she had been “quite the hit” with summit leaders.

Due to the pandemic, the Queen has only been able to hold virtual audiences at Windsor.
Mr Ship told listeners: “So the Queen was on good form and obviously that was just a couple of days after she came back from the G7.
“Then last weekend she hosted Joe and Jill Biden at Windsor and there was the mini Trooping of the Colour.
“I’m sure the Queen actually wanted just to lay down in a dark room for a few days after all that at age 95.
“It’s astonishing that at age 95 she’s doing quite as much as she is.”
