Queen Elizabeth II is set to be honoured with new a national memorial, which is in planning for the late monarch.

It has been reported that a team is being assembled to commission the memorial, with more details to be announced soon.

The late Queen died last September, at the age of 96.

Queen Elizabeth II held the title as the longest-reigning monarch in British history, fast becoming a much loved and highly respected figure across the globe.

It has been shared that the Royal household and the Government are reportedly working “hand in hand” on the project to honour her lifetime commitment to the crown.

With new details to follow, the Telegraph also reported that “the membership of the committee will be announced before the anniversary of her death on September 8”.

The report will hold no surprise to royal fans due to the longevity of her reign.

Buckingham Palace is yet to officially confirm what is going on behind the scenes of the planned memorial.

The latest update comes just two weeks after the Government released the latest guidance on the late monarch’s name for memorialisation.

It stated: “Permission to use the title ‘Royal,’ or the names and titles of members of the Royal Family, including the name of the late Queen, and other protected Royal titles is a mark of favour granted by the Sovereign, acting on the advice of his Ministers.

“Communities, organisations and individuals may wish to mark the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and commemorate her extraordinary reign through the use of her name and title, for example by naming a park, garden or street.”

It continued: “Requests that incorporate ‘memorial’ or ‘remembrance’ in a proposed name are likely to be looked upon favourably, where possible. The full title of Queen Elizabeth II will continue to be closely protected and only be granted for applications with strong Royal connections.”

Statues of Queen Elizabeth II’s parents, the Queen Mother and King George VI, are located between The Mall and Carlton Gardens in central London.

They were unveiled by the late Queen in 1955, three years into her long-standing reign.
