Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s comments during the Oprah Winfrey interview have reverberated around the world. Royal commentator Antonio Caprarica told Rolling Stones Italia argued that the Queen was forced to suffer “sensational ingratitude” from Prince Harry. He insisted the public row had damaged the reputation of the monarchy and in turn unfairly criticise the institute the Queen stands for.

He hinted that these actions had dashed the Duke’s chances of maintaining a quiet existence in the US with his wife.

He said: “Elizabeth is a woman dominated by the functions she embodies in an obsessive and maniacal way.

“Only, she is surrounded by relatives for whom this sense of duty is absolutely optional.

“She had Diana and Sarah as daughters-in-law with the consequences we know, lately her son Andrew has been involved in the dirty Epstein story.

“This is while her favourite grandson has not only turned his back on her but has allowed his wife to denigrate the institution to which she dedicated her entire existence.

“After ’97 with the death of Diana, which she survived brilliantly thanks to her behaviour inspired by dignity and respect for the role, perhaps she expected that the years of very late maturity passed in peace.

“But instead, we’re seeing what we’re seeing, so we cannot fail to be in solidarity with her, as a Queen and as a grandmother.

“I think she was faced with an example of sensational ingratitude that brings to mind the tragedy of King Lear.”

The interview has resulted in both praise and criticism from royal fans and commentators around the world.

Queen: Expert says there’s ‘huge admiration’ in Australia

Due to the public nature of the accusations against Meghan and Harry’s treatment by the Royal Family, the Queen was forced to issue a statement on Tuesday.

It read: “The following statement is issued by Buckingham Palace on behalf of her Majesty the Queen.

“The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.

“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning.

“While some recollection may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.

“Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much-loved family members.”

Commentator Victoria Murphy argued this was damage control and the monarchy hoping they could resolve these issues privately.

However, royal fans have demanded further answers and details into how the monarchy treated the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
