Queen closes the doors to Balmoral amid visit for the first time since Philip’s passing

The monarch arrived at her Balmoral residence last week and officially closed the doors to the public on Monday. This is her first visit to Balmoral since the tragic death of her husband, Prince Philip, in April.
On Tuesday, Balmoral Castle’s Instagram shared a post announcing the grounds will be closed until April next year.
“Balmoral castle and grounds is now closed to the public until April 2022,” they captioned the post.
“We would like to thank each and every visitor to the estate throughout 2021 and we hope you all had a very memorable experience.
“Despite the challenges and restrictions caused by the pandemic it’s been our pleasure to welcome so many happy faces through the gates at Balmoral.

“Our takeaway coffee pod and gate lodge shop will remain open 7 days a week, 10am to 4pm.
“Please continue to follow our page to receive updates from the estate.
“We hope to see you all again in 2022 for what will be a very special Royal celebration!”
Next year, the Queen will celebrate her Platinum Jubilee – the first British monarch to reach the milestone.

Her Majesty ascended the throne in 1952 February 6 and next year will mark her 70th year of service.
Next year, to mark the special occasion, people will be able to celebrate from June 2 to June 5, thanks to an extended bank holiday.
There will be many events taking place during this extended weekend including the Trooping the Colour, the Queen’s annual Birthday Parade, and Platinum Jubilee Beacons.
Over the weekend, the monarch will host various parties including the Platinum Party at the Palace on Saturday.
On Sunday, over 5,000 people are planned to take part in the Platinum Jubilee Pageant next to Buckingham Palace.
