The Queen has decided to celebrate Christmas in Windsor rather than travel to Sandringham as Omicron rapidly spreads across the UK, it is understood.

The decision was a ‘personal one’ taken after careful consideration, and it reflects a precautionary approach, a royal source said.

There will be family visiting Windsor over the Christmas period, and sensible precautions and all appropriate guidelines will be followed.
