Queen Camilla shrugs off Prince Harry’s ‘vitriol’ on her birthday
Queen Camilla has been referred to a “modern monarch” for constantly tackling taboo topics.
The 76-year-old, who celebrates her birthday today, has been praised for her ability to take on topics that were once avoided by previous royals.
Royal expert and former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond has opened up about the Queen, ahead of her birthday today.
Ms Bond has praised the Queen, stating that she “gradually embraced” and elevated awareness of topics such as domestic violence.
Queen Camilla, who married then-Prince Charles in 2005, endured some “difficult decades” in the run-up to her role as Queen.

Ms Bond told OK!: “She’s a country woman, a mother, a grandmother, a wife and now at a point in her life where most people are enjoying the peace and freedom of later life, she’s the Queen, with all the attention and responsibilities that come with the role.”
She added: “Camilla has never had a career, a profession, indeed even a job.
“So to come to this extremely big role so late in life must’ve been a shock to the system.”
The royal expert continued: “However, she has gradually embraced a number of causes dear to her heart, some of them quite sensitive and difficult.”

Noting of her newfound “confidence” in public speaking, Ms Bond revealed that the Queen is “really enjoying new aspects of her work”.
While reflecting on Camilla’s work for her very successful online reading room and literacy festival, Ms Bond remembers back to one od the 76-year-old’s first public speaking engagements.
She said: “I always remember her telling me how when she made one of the very first public speeches – about osteoporosis – she looked up and saw me in the audience and felt reassured to see a familiar face.”
Ms Bond went on to praise the Queen’s “resilience” to rise above some of the most recent royal tensions.

She added: “I admire her resilience in the face of so much criticism, in particular the latest vitriol from [Prince] Harry in his memoir Spare.
“Her friends say that she has chosen to rise above it, let it go, and move on, which can’t be easy.
“But she’s that sort of woman”, with Bond adding that friends say she will “make the very best job” of being Queen that she can.
