Her dusky pink wool crepe coat dress accentuated her waist, showcasing her slim figure which was balanced with a flared skirt.

To complete the outfit, the 76-year-old opted for a Philip Treacy beret-style hat with leaf detailing.

Queen Camilla traded her earthy colour palette for bright pink today as she arrived in France for a state visit.

The 76-year-old donned a light pink dress by one of her favourite designers, Fiona Clare, along with a statement hat.

Her bold accessory was crafted by Philip Treacy, a designer to whom Camilla and other female royals are very loyal customers.

Fans took to Twitter to praise the Queen’s bold outfit choice, with one person writing: “She’s killing it! This state visit to France will be the Queen’s Arc de Triomphe.”

However, style experts have claimed that it’s not her best look.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Raymond Lam, a style expert from Vendula London opined that the shade doesn’t quite work with Camilla’s skin tone.

He said: “When disembarking the plane today in France, Queen Camilla was seen wearing a pale, pastel pink ensemble.

“The coat dress and statement hat combination is very much a go-to outfit for Camilla during public appearances, however, she usually chooses to wear blue or something more neutral coloured.”

Raymond continued: “She has been pictured wearing pale pink at other events this year, such as the second day of Ascot, where she recycled the dress that she wore on Prince Harry’s wedding day.

“Although she styles her pale pink outfits effectively with bold hats and jewellery, the colour can make her pale complexion appear a little washed out, and it also does not stand out against her pale blonde hair when compared to her trusty blue outfits.

“She perhaps goes for pale pink on the rare occasion that she wears this colour as she does not seem to be a fan of bright or bold colours and favours pastel shades, compared to Queen Elizabeth II who was renowned for favouring bright colours, often being spotted in bold fuchsia pink so that she would stand out against crowds of people.”

While it’s not the first time, and likely won’t be the last time that Queen Camilla has worn pink, style expert Susie Nelson opined that there’s a time and a place.

Aside from royal protocols that steer women away from wearing certain patterns, hemlines and necklines, colours are another thing to consider.

Susie, who is the founder of Modes and More Vintage told Express.co.uk: “Pink does suit most people, and it is usually a summer colour. The outfit would be wonderful for a summer wedding, but I’m not sure it’s perfect for a state visit.

“I can understand Camilla wanting to avoid red, white and blue – the colours of the French flag and ours, especially as it looked like Madame Macron was dressed in blue, plus the flypast had vapour trails in red, white and blue.

“The outfit is elegant, but possibly a stronger colour would have been better. Though no doubt there are more outfits to be seen on this visit.”
