Queen 'banned Harry and Meghan photographing her first meeting with Lilibet'

The Queen reportedly banned Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from bringing a photographer into Windsor Castle to capture the special moment she met little Lilibet for the first time.

Royal experts questioned why the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not release a snap of the encounter during their visit to Britain for the Platinum Jubilee.

It has now been claimed that orders came from the monarch herself and they were told ‘no chance’.

The couple introduced the toddler to her 96-year-old great-grandmother – who she is named after – on Thursday.

‘Harry and Meghan wanted their photographer to capture the moment Lilibet met the Queen,’ an insider told the Sun.

‘But they were told no chance. It was a private family meeting.’

Royal expert Daniela Elser told news.com.au on Sunday that the ‘most obvious argument’ against sharing a picture was that it would have ‘blown all other Jubilee coverage out of the water’ and overshadowed the Queen during the celebrations.

‘I reckon courtiers and aides have really missed a trick here,’ she added.

It comes as Harry and Meghan released two photographs of their daughter to commemorate her birthday on Saturday.

Taken in the grounds of Frogmore Cottage – their Windsor home, it shows Lilibet smiling at the camera while sitting on the grass.

The young royal is wearing a blue dress and a hairband with a white flower on it that compliments her ginger locks.

Only close family and friends were invited to celebrate the joyous occasion.

On Saturday, the royal family Twitter account posted a balloon emoji and a happy birthday message to the youngster.

The release of Lilibet’s portrait comes just hours after the Sussexes jet arrived in California after their fleeting visit to London.
