Queen at Royal Ascot: What colour is Queen wearing? Punters say GREY – but is it blue?

Queen Elizabeth II appears to have broken with her Royal blue tradition today after she appeared at Royal Ascot today wearing a grey coat. The 93-year-old monarch arrived for the afternoon of racing in an open-top carriage alongside her son Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, daughter Princess Anne and her son-in-law Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence. Over the past two days of the famous horse race event, the Queen has worn pale blue, but today she departed from the blue and donned dove grey. But some eager-eyed royal blues do not believe the dress was in fact grey and instead think the dress is blue, so what colour is the Queen’s outfit?

To celebrate Royal Ascot Ladies’ Day, Queen Elizabeth wore a stunning coat and floral silk dress with accents of lemon yellow.

While bookies paid out for the Queen wearing Grey on the third day of the famous races, others have queried whether her outfit is actually blue.

Leading bookmaker Coral paid out a five figure sum to customers after punters had backed the Queen to wear grey on the third day of Royal Ascot.

It was confirmed officially that she had chosen a ‘metal grey’ outfit for the third day of the horse racing meeting.

Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead said: “The strength of the gamble over the last 24 hours on the Queen to wear a grey hat knocked us for six and it’s clear that plenty of people got wind of inside information. We’ve paid out to hundreds of customers and it’s joy for punters as they begin day three of this famous meeting.”

The bookmaker had made pink the 6-4 favourite for Ladies’ Day last Friday.

Mr Aitkenhead added: “Her Majesty has opted for blue and grey so far this week but Ladies’ Day is just around the corner and the smart money at the moment appears to think that she’ll opt for a pink hat to celebrate it.”
