Queen and Prince Philip: Where are Queen and Philip as Meghan prepares to give birth?

Along with the rest of the world, the Queen and Prince Philip are looking forward to the birth of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s first royal baby. Her Majesty will have the least amount of time to wait, however, as she must be the first person officially informed of Baby Sussex’s birth. The head of the monarchy must be told due to royal protocol based on a long-standing tradition. We do not know for certain how the Duke and Duchess of Sussex plan to deliver the good news but we can assume it might be via a phone call.

However, the Queen may well meet her eighth great-grandchild soon after his or her birth for one important reason.

This is because the Queen and Prince Philip are currently residing at Windsor Castle, as is tradition over Easter, just a short distance from Meghan and Harry’s Frogmore Cottage home.

The Royal Family website states the Queen usually spends a month over March to April during the period.

Easter is very late this year and Queen has several planned Windsor engagements still to make locally in early May.

She will attend a Service of the Royal Victorian Order at St George’s Chapel, where Harry and Meghan married last year, on Friday at 11am.

This will be followed by a planned luncheon on May 7 for members of the Order of Merit, and a garden party on the 15th.

Meghan’s due date is between late April and early May, although the royal couple have opted to keep the exact date private along with the details of the birth.

There is widespread speculation the Duchess wants a home birth led by a midwife.

Some royal experts believe her delivery will be at the Frimley Park NHS hospital in Surrey, located about 15 miles away from the Windsor estate.

The Queen is said to have visited Meghan and Harry at their home in Frogmore Cottage only recently.

A source told The Sun: “Her Majesty wanted to formally welcome the Sussexes to their new home so she was their first visitor.

“After all, they’ve practically moved into her back garden.

“She visited with other family members and Harry and Meghan were delighted to show them round.”

When will Meghan give birth?

The bookies are convinced the royal baby’s arrival is imminent.

Ladbrokes has slashed the odds of a May 2 birth to 2/1.

The date coincides with the fourth birthday of Princess Charlotte.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Unless the baby is already here and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have decided to keep things private for a little while longer, the newborn will have a May birthday and we’ve been forced to slash the odds of the tot sharing his or her big day with their cousin Charlotte.”
