The call from Express.co.uk readers comes after a pub in Birmingham barred customers aged between 18 and 25 after boozy sessions led to youngsters irresponsibly flouting social distancing rules. Revellers crammed into The Prince of Wales in Moseley, Birmingham, and danced on tables.
When asked if bars across the country should usher in similar rules, seven in 10 (76 percent; 1,876) Express.co.uk readers who took part in a survey said yes.
Less than a quarter of respondents (23 percent; 567) said under 25s should not be treated any differently to other drinkers.
Only 21 readers (less than one percent) said they didn’t know where they stood on the issue.
A total of 2,464 readers had a say in the ballot which ran from 10.11am to 9.11pm on Tuesday, July 28.
Some readers said until under 25s could be trusted to drink responsibly, they should be turned away at pub doors.
One person said: “If under 25s want to be treated as adults then perhaps they should start behaving as adults, no?
“How often is it you see people over the age of 30 involved in the drink-fuelled carnage visited upon our towns and cities every Friday and Saturday night? Hardly ever.
“The fact of the matter is that people are far less mature at 18 now than they were decades ago.
“The law is outdated and needs to be changed in order to reflect this.”
A second reader backed up this view, questioning why youngsters aged between 18 and 25 have not been “barred from alcohol completely” given the “carnage” they are known to cause.
And yet a third person said much of the younger generation had shown disrespect for elderly people who have been forced to shield during months on lockdown.

They said: “The younger end have no respect for anything, least of all the elderly who have been under virtual house arrest for the best part of four months, as long as they can live for the day and eat, drink and be merry then let the party roll on.”
But others argued that many under 25s were well able to drink responsibly and should not be penalised for their age.
One person wrote: “People should not be banned from pubs on the grounds of age but how they act.
“Anyone who does not socially distance should be banned.”
Another opponent of the age ban said such a rule would be difficult for bartenders and security personnel to enforce.
They suggested that while the threat of coronavirus remains in Britain, it would be “much easier much more effective to shut all pubs”.
After regular drinkers lashed out at The Prince of Wales pub over its new policy, bosses decided to do a quick U-turn.
The watering hole is now offering drinks on the house to under 25s – but there’s a catch.
Customers must sign up for a free membership scheme and will need to present their club card when they arrive at the joint.
