Prison worker 'suspended for kissing Zara Aleena's murderer'

A prison worker has been suspended after ‘kissing’ Jordan McSweeney, the killer of Zara Aleena, it has been reported.

McSweeney is currently serving a life sentence at HMP Belmarsh for ‘the sexually motivated murder’ of the aspiring lawyer in Ilford, east London.

Since being sentenced in December, the 29-year-old has engaged in a romantic relationship with a worker in the Category-A jail, the Sun reported.

The unnamed woman in her 30s was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office after allegedly growing close to the depraved sex predator.

A source told the newspaper: ‘She was seen behaving intimately with McSweeney, who is one the most dangerous prisoners. Just look at his record.

‘How you could go anywhere near a man like that romantically is beyond me.’

McSweeney was ‘prowling the streets’ and ‘looking for a woman to attack’ before setting his sights on Zara on June 26, 2022.

The Old Bailey heard four others had ‘lucky escapes’ in the hours leading up to the brutal murder, including one who quite literally ‘ran for her life’.

His victim was minutes from home when McSweeney dragged her into a driveway on Cranbrook Road.

There, McSweeney kicked, stamped on, and sexually assaulted her before leaving her for dead.

He was handed a life sentence with a minimum term of 38 years for his crimes.

A Prison Service spokesperson said It would be ‘inappropriate to comment on a live police investigation’ after the allegations emerged.

Staff found guilty of inappropriate relationships with prisoners can be sentenced to time behind bars themselves for misconduct in public office.
