King Charles III proclaimed monarch in Scotland
The Princess of Wales’s lesser-known Scottish title will be on display later today when the royal crosses the border to attend King Charles’s second Coronation in Edinburgh. The royal will appear alongside Prince William and Queen Camilla in a service of thanksgiving at St Giles’ Cathedral to mark King Charles as monarch following his Coronation in London. After Charles acceded the throne last September, Kate and William inherited their new Scottish titles, the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay.
Under the title, Kate is also known asCountess of Carrick, Baroness of Renfrew and Lady of the Isles but will mainly be referred to as the Duchess, the highest rank.
Prince William could also be known as Earl of Carrick, Baron of Renfrew, Lord of the Isles and Prince and Great Steward of Scotland but again would use the higher rank of Duke most of the time.
The couple will sit alongside the King and Queen as they are welcomed by Scotland’s First Minister Humza Yousaf for the special service on Wednesday.
The ceremony will include a People’s Procession from Edinburgh Castle to St Giles’ Cathedral which will include around 100 people representing different aspects of Scottish life.
Charles, Camilla and the Prince and Princess of Wales will then take part in a Royal Procession from the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the official royal residence in Scotland, escorted by the Royal Regiment of Scotland.
At around 2.15pm the King will be presented with the Honours of Scotland, the oldest Crown Jewels in Britiain, which was last used after the death of Queen Elizabeth when it was placed on her coffin.
Following the service the royals will return to the Palace of Holyroodhouse for an RAF flypast.

Princess Kate’s attendance comes just a day after she made a surprise appearence at Wimbledon where she joined tennis legend Roger Federer to watch the Brits in action.
Unsurprisingly the royal looked stylish in a white and mint co-ord, onsisting of a white Bouclè and Georgette gown and £1,950 Balmain blazer as she watched on from the royal box.
Kate and William also celebrated the NHS 75th birthday earlier this week, releasing a film of themselves at a tea part with staff from the across the country as they tried their hand at baking.
The pair looked relaxed as they chatted and discussed one of the oldest debates dividing the country, cream or jam on scones first?
Kate took the Cornish side, saying: “I always do jam and then cream.” William joked: “I go whatever is closest to me.”
