Princess Kate says Prince Louis’ unusual early words were inspired by hobby

King Charles Coronation: Prince Louis waves from balcony

Prince Louis had unusual early words for his parents Princess Kate and Prince William when he was a baby – and it certainly isn’t what you would expect.

Most babies’ first words would usually either be “mummy” or “daddy” but the Prince and Princess of Wales’ youngest child decided he would buck the trend.

Kate once revealed Royal Family youngster Louis, born in 2018, made the unusual choice for some of his early words – and it was all down to his mum’s love of baking.

In 2019, the princess and her husband William appeared on a baking show called A Berry Royal Christmas alongside celebrity baker Mary Berry.

During that Christmas special, she recalled how Louis was learning to speak using the cookbooks on her bookshelf at home.

Kate told the TV cook: “One of Louis’ first words was ‘Mary’ because right at his height are all my cooking books in the kitchen.

“And children are really fascinated by faces, and your faces are all over your cooking books and he would say, ‘That’s Mary Berry’. So he would definitely recognise you if he saw you.”

Last year, Louis joined his older brother Prince George and older sister Princess Charlotte at Lambrook School in Berkshire after the Cambridges moved to Windsor.

They now live in Adelaide Cottage, with the school he attends costing £4,289 per term and £13,167 for all three terms a year.

However, the price of tuition increases in the senior years, with Charlotte’s tuition costing £19,344 a year and Prince George’s education for one year will cost £20,997.

In a guide by Talk Education on the best private schools in Britain, Lambrook is described as having a “sense of delicious freedom and fresh air.”

During the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022, he stole the hearts of the nation with his hilarious and cheeky behaviors.

During the RAF flyover while the royals were stood on the Buckingham Palace balcony, the youngster covered his ears and his facial expression told the story of someone who thought it was too loud – much to the bemusement of his late great-grandmother.

In June of this year, Louis also played a key role in the historic Coronation of his grandfather King Charles III.

The youngster received plaudits for being so well-behaved during the ceremony at Westminster Abbey and in the events following that milestone event.
