Princess Kate ‘let her true feelings slip’ for Meghan Markle at tense event
Harry, Meghan, William and Kate thank the crowds in Windsor
Princess Kate let her “true feelings” towards Meghan Markle show at tense event, according to a body language expert who said Kate made her feelings “crystal clear”.
One of the last appearances the pair made together was at Windsor Castle in the days following the Queen’s death in September 2022.
The Prince and Princess of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex greeted wellwishers and admired floral tributes that had been left.
At the time, many hoped that this display meant a reconcilation was on the cards but it appears that was not the case.
Following the walkabout, it was claimed that the joint appearance was one of the hardest things Kate has ever had to do since joining the Firm.

Body language expert Judi James analysed the footage and said that she felt there was four key moments during the appearance that proved Kate had reached a point of no return.
She told the Mirror: “A close analysis of four key body language behaviours suggest it was forty minutes of gruesome tension from two couples united in grief but irrevocably split apart by anger and resentments.
“At Philip’s funeral it was Kate acting as peacemaker and a catalyst for ‘temporary’ reunion between the warring brothers but her behaviour after the Queen’s death suggested a U-turn of emotional intent.
“Kate was clearly, like the others, mourning a beloved grandma and mentor but in many ways, she looked firmer and more resolute than ever before.”
Storming car exit
The first sight of the two couples was when the car they were all travelling in pulled up outside the gates of Windsor Castle. And Judi saw a clear indication from Kate she was in no mood to make up.
She explained: “As the car drove up it was clear the two couples had shared the ride. The right-hand doors opened and Harry got out, followed by William. Despite their differences, the brothers kept close together and even stood together to make their greetings.
“Kate got out the other side with Meghan behind her. Kate’s first gesture of intent came as she stormed around the car to join the brothers without as much as a backward glance at Meghan. She was clearly going to make no attempt to play at small talk or unity.
“Meghan went to follow at a distance but held back as though unsure whether to join the others or not. While Kate ignored the Sussexes it was William who noticed Meghan and extended an arm to invite her to join them. Meghan hung back in the group and Harry squeezed round behind his brother to get to his wife, who was standing nervously tossing her hair.

Social distancing
After exiting the car, the two couples began to walk towards the floral tributes, and Judi said this also prompted another telling moment from Kate. She added: “Kate looked so keen to keep away from Harry and Meghan that she also created a big gap between herself and her husband, who held back in an apparent attempt to appear conciliatory to the other couple.
“The line-up as they strode in sight of the public and heard their first cheers saw Kate ahead and walking to one side by herself, with a big gap between William, Harry and Meghan who were more closely bunched up. Kate’s stride looked determined and speedy.”
Dodging Meghan
Meanwhile, according to Judi, another moment showed that Meghan was picking up on the tension, prompting her to make an unexpected move. Judi said: “As they stood looking at the floral tributes, Meghan somehow got between the two brothers.
“There was a point where she clearly decided to change this order to keep away from both Kate and William and what might have been a hostile crowd. Patting Harry on the back she dodged behind him to his other side.”
Final photos
After inspecting the flowers, the two couples split up to greet the hundreds of wellwishers who had come out to greet them. After almost half an hour of chatting, the pairs reunited for one last photo before getting in the same car to return home.
Judi added: “At the end of the walkabout the four met up right in front of the cameras and by then Kate was looking numb with grief and tension. She stood with her legs splayed but her fingers touching in front of her torso, looking both vulnerable and resolute in one pose.
“The four needed to discuss their departure and while Meghan seemed to have adopted a rigid pose, Kate appeared to be looking at her, more with curiosity than with a hard stare.
Meghan’s movement away is actually part of a turning and waving goodbye to the crowds, not any form of flinching. Kate walks off to get straight into the car, opening the door herself, while Meghan waits while Harry rushes round to open the car door for her.”
