Princess Eugenie’s baby set to share special connection with Princess Lilibet

Princess Eugenie adds her thumbprint to charity garden

Princess Eugenie is expected to give birth to her second baby very soon, with the little one sharing a special connection to their cousin Princess Lilibet. Eugenie is known to be close to Prince Harry, even flying over to visit him in California last year, and they also have children of a similar age, as Prince Archie is just a couple of years older than Eugenie’s son August.

Sarah Ferguson revealed in an interview with ¡HOLA! TV that her new grandchild is due to be born at the end of May, saying: “Well, we don’t know what it is yet. But the baby is due by the end of May, I think. So it’s any minute now.”

This means the baby would have the same star sign, Gemini, as Lilibet, who was born on June 4 2021.

Gemini is the third astrological sign of the zodiac and represents those born between May 21 and June 20, and they are said to be intellectual, playful and quick-witted.

Another prominent Gemini in the Royal Family was the late Prince Philip, who was born on June 10 1921.

When the new baby does arrive it will be the third grandchild for Fergie and her ex-husband Prince Andrew, with their eldest daughter Princess Beatrice a mother to one-year-old Sienna.

In January this year Eugenie shared the news of her pregnancy with a sweet Instagram post showing little August kissing her baby bump during a walk in the countryside.

She captioned the picture: “We’re so excited to share that there will be a new addition to our family this summer”, while Fergie commented underneath: “Granny heaven” followed by a red love heart emoji.

The new royal baby will be 13th in line to the throne regardless of their sex, as the Succession to the Crown Act passed in May 2013 means that boys no longer take precedence over girls in the system.

The act was passed while Princess Kate and Prince William were expecting their first child and applies to all those born after October 2011.

This means that Princess Charlotte could not be overtaken in the line by her younger brother Prince Louis, however given that it did not apply when the late Queen Elizabeth had her children Princess Anne is lower down the line of succession than her younger brothers Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, and their respective children.

The Duke of Edinburgh is currently 13th in line, but he will be bumped down to 14th when Eugenie has her child.

Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank, who wed in October 2018, were snapped last weekend going for a sunny stroll in west London, although she has at least temporarily stepped back from public duties.

Last week at the Chelsea Flower Show Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi attended an engagement which would likely have been attended by Eugenie otherwise.

Beatrice and Edo visited a show garden designed by Horatio’s Garden, a charity that supports those who have suffered spinal injuries.

Eugenie, herself a scoliosis sufferer, is a “proud” patron of the charity.
