Princess Eugenie, the younger daughter of the Duke and Duchess of York, shared a never-before-seen picture of her son August Philip Hawke on Instagram. In the snap, the mother-of-one can be seen holding her son with a carrier on the front while posing for the camera standing under a beautiful tree alongside her mum Sarah, also known as Fergie by fans and friends.

The photograph, which also features two dogs, was taken from afar to showcase the majesty of the tree, whose leaves have already started to change colour and fall.

The picture was shared alongside four more as part of a birthday message crafted to mark Fergie’s birthday, which fell on Saturday.

The first snap appears to be a selfie and shows both Eugenie and her mother smiling while on a walk in the countryside.

Two other pictures show Fergie smiling to the camera alone while she is immersed in nature.

Another photograph pictures Eugenie and her sister Princess Beatrice leaning against their mother while she smiles for a selfie. Jack Brooksbank, who married the Yorks’ younger child in October 2018, is also included in the snap.

Upon publishing these pictures, Eugenie wrote as a caption: “Half an hour left to go of October 15th 2022 but better late than never… Happy Birthday my dear mumsy!”

The post was appreciated by many fans of Fergie and the Yorks’ children, with one Instagram user, named tracyweisman, writing: “Happy birthday, Fergie! You’ve done such a lovely job with your girls.”

Another, lionessdi, wrote: “Lovely pics, happy birthday to Duchess Sarah! Beautiful family. Much admired! From USA.”

And lisaardern added: “Happy birthday to your mum, I bet she is a fabulous grandmother”.

Unlike Princess Beatrice, who has chosen not to share with the public for the time being pictures of her one-year-old daughter Sienna, Eugenie has published a number of snaps of little August over the past months.

The boy was born in February last year and made a public appearance in the royal box as the Platinum Pageant, held on the closing day of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, was undergoing.

A few days prior, on June 2, Eugenie also shared three pictures of August being held by Jack as they watched together the RAF flypast.

On Saturday, Fergie marked her own birthday by sharing a picture of herself laying in the grass on a sunny day while cuddling the Queen’s surviving corgis – Sandy and Muick.

The caption to the snap simply read: “The presents that keep giving”.

Shortly after the death of Her Majesty in September, a source revealed the Duke and Duchess of York would look after the Queen’s beloved pets, which had been gifted to the late sovereign by Prince Andrew after Sarah had found them.

Last week, the Duchess told The Telegraph taking care of these dogs was a “big honour”.

After describing them as “national treasures”, Sarah suggested the pets were really well behaved, as she added they had “been taught well”.
