The new clip was shared in three parts to Eugenie’s Instagram story together with a post about environmental awareness in recognition of World Oceans Day. In the video, four-month-old August sits in his baby bouncer snuggling a “fluffy shark”.
The Princess said: “It’s World Oceans Day today. A day to celebrate our magnificent oceans and all the creatures in it.
“A day to raise awareness for something so integral to all our lives.
“And a day to snuggle with fluffy sharks.”
Eugenie’s post served a deeper meaning as she became an ambassador for the Blue Marine Foundation (BLUE) this month, a charity dedicated to restoring ocean health.
August was born on February 9 at Portland Hospital in London, much to the delight of Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family.
The Princess also took a trip to a London Exhibition, visiting Forest For Change at Somerset House.
Creating a post alongside the adorable video, Eugenie, 31, wrote: “Today I went to visit the Forest for Change at Somerset House with the wonderful team at @theglobalgoals.
“In the middle of this magnificent forest are the @unitednations 17 Global Goals as pillars. Today we were celebrating goal 14: Life Below Water on World Oceans Day.
“I listened to some incredible people all doing remarkable things to help protect our oceans and be a force of change for them and the creatures in it.
“Thank you @theglobalgoals for bringing us together to talk about the ocean and for talking to me about my new role as a @bluemarinefoundation ambassador.”
The Princess has been involved with the charity for a few years. In 2019, she opened the charity’s largest fundraising event – a London-Monaco cycle ride covering around 900km.
BLUE’s mission is to combat overfishing and the destruction of biodiversity by creating large-scale marine reserves and developing models of sustainable fishing.
So far, the charity has helped to protect over four million square kilometres of ocean and were critical in the creation of the largest marine reserve in the Atlantic – an area nearly the size of France.
