Princess Eugenie royal baby may be stopped from meeting Beatrice for weeks after birth

Princess Eugenie: Expert discusses birth announcement

Princess Eugenie, 30, and husband Jack Brooksbank confirmed they were expecting their first child together last autumn. In an adorable Instagram post, the couple shared a photo of them holding up baby booties and a sweet selfie of them both beaming.

The caption accompanying the post read: “Jack and I are so excited for early 2021…”

While Eugenie’s precise due date has not been disclosed it is thought likely she will give birth in late January or February.

Eugenie and Jack live in a cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace in London.

The capital is currently under Tier 4 restrictions which puts a ban on households mixing.

Eugenie and Jack are likely to have spent a quiet Christmas at home together as they prepare to become parents.

While it is not known where Eugenie plans to give birth, she could opt for the private maternity ward at the Portland Hospital, where he mother Sarah Ferguson had both her children.

However, hospital visits are likely to be off amid Covid-19 restrictions and the rest of Eugenie’s family could have to wait to meet the royal baby.

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital is a short drive from Eugenie’s home and the advice to maternity patients on its website currently states: “The current COVID-19 pandemic means we are required to make difficult decisions relating to the service that we provide.”

The hospital statement adds: “We make these decisions based on our duty of care both to you as expectant parents and to the staff who work for our NHS services.

“We ask, at the moment, that you continue to only have one designated person who will be your support person throughout your pregnancy and birth care.

“We ask that you do not swap this person with any other unless they become unwell themselves and so are unable to attend to support you.

“Should this person become unwell during your labour and birth and has to return home, an alternative person may attend.”

The statement ends: “We base these decisions on local infection rates, current hospital admissions, staff sickness and any lockdown in England.”

Although Jack may be able to join Eugenie in hospital for the birth, it is not known when the baby will get to meet the rest of its royal relatives.

Princess Beatrice and Eugenie’s parents Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson could have to hold on until restrictions are lifted to meet their new grandchild when they arrive.

The York family will have spent Christmas apart as they all live in areas with Tier 4 restrictions.

Despite being divorced Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson still live with one another at the Royal Lodge in Great Windsor Park.

The royal residence is a short distance from Windsor Castle where the Queen and Prince Philip are currently staying.

Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi live together in London.

Ahead of their marriage, Beatrice had an apartment at St James’s Palace but it’s now thought possible they may have moved into Harry’s old home Nottingham Cottage by Kensington Palace.
