Princess Eugenie, 30, and her husband Jack Brooksbank, 35, welcomed their son August Philip Hawke to the world on February 9. The young family are currently based at Meghan Markle, 39, and Prince Harry’s UK home Frogmore Cottage. The Windsor residence is a short distance from Eugenie’s parents Sarah Ferguson, 60, and Prince Andrew, 61, who live in the Royal Lodge in Great Windsor Park.

Eugenie is understood to be in a bubble with her parents who are lending a hand with childcare.

Frogmore Cottage is not only a practical base for Eugenie but one that is close to both her and Jack’s hearts as it is a short distance from St George’s Chapel where they had their royal wedding in October 2018.

While plans for Baby August’s christening are unlikely to be underway just yet, given the family’s current location it seems likely they will have the ceremony at St George’s Chapel too.

If August is christened at St George’s the key royal event is bound to bring back happy wedding day memories for both Eugenie and Jack.

The chapel is also a stone’s throw away from Windsor Castle where the Queen, 94, and Prince Philip, 99, have spent the best part of the pandemic.

The Duke of Edinburgh has been in King Edward VII’s hospital in London for “rest and observation” after being admitted as a “precautionary measure” last Tuesday.

While Eugenie may be keen to have August christened as soon as possible she is unlikely to go ahead with the even until her grandfather Philip is well enough to attend.

While Eugenie is not a working royal she is 10th in line to the throne and is still entitled to enjoy several royal privileges.

Eugenie and Jack’s lavish royal wedding took place at St George’s Chapel Windsor just months after sixth in line Prince Harry, 36, and Meghan Markle tied the knot at the same spot.

Given that Eugenie is a much-loved granddaughter of the Queen and her son is 11th in line to the throne it seems highly likely baby August will have a traditional royal christening.

Windsor Family babies are traditionally christened in the same Honiton lace gown.

The special gown is a precise replica of the one commissioned by Queen Victoria and first used at the christening of her eldest daughter, Princess Victoria, in 1841.

All royal babies were christened in the original gown up until the birth of Prince Edward’s son James, Viscount Severn, 17 when a replica replaced the original as it was deemed to frail to continue using.

If August has a traditional christening then he will be expected to wear the gown too.

While England remains in lockdown some christenings are still able to go ahead under the current restrictions.

The current Government guidelines explain in some instances christenings may be counted as “significant life cycle events” and are allowed to take place under a communal worship exemption.

The official guidance states: “Where such events are an element of communal worship they may continue, but they are subject to the requirements for communal worship set out above.”

The government’s definition of “significant life cycle events” reads: “Events to mark or celebrate a significant milestone in a person’s life, according to their religion or belief, such as events to celebrate a person’s birth (other than a birthday) or coming of age.

“Examples would include a christening or a naming ceremony.”
