The Prince and Princess of Wales had a tumultuous relationship towards the end, with Charles eventually choosing to pursue a relationship with Camilla Parker Bowles. Diana blamed the union for the breakdown of their marriage after her relationship with Prince Charles had ended. However, her relationship with Charles wasn’t the only thing that underwent a great change.

The people’s princess’ wardrobe also underwent a major change.

There were certain items Diana felt she could no longer wear, and that included some items from Chanel.

In 2018, Australian designer Jayson Brunsdon shed a bit of light on exactly why Diana no longer incorporated the fashion house’s logo in any of her outfits.

He told Harper’s Bazaar UK that back in 1996, he had suggested she complete her look with a classic pair of Chanel shoes.

However, the designer received a surprising response.

“I said, ‘Well these would look great with the Versace. And she said, ‘No, I can’t wear linked C’s, the double C.’”

Apparently, the double C was now a reminder of Charles and Camilla, who had been the prince’s mistress.

However, Diana didn’t stop wearing the brand completely.

The Princess of Wales was known to wear suits and accessories that didn’t include the logo, and one of her most iconic Chanel looks actually came after her divorce.

Prince Charles and Princess Diana officially divorced in 1996, but a year later, she was back in the brand in her own more subtle way.

The princess chose this green Chanel suit while attending the opening of a new unit at Great Ormond Street Hospital on Valentine’s Day.

For Prince William’s confirmation in 1997, Diana wore her most iconic Chanel look.

She wore a memorable powder blue suit, which she wore again a few months later.

The royal let the color really pop by pairing her outfit with beige accessories.

Her looks and character are still remembered by many to this day, and her eldest son Prince William recently opened up about some of his fond memories about her.

Diana was sometimes known to be a bit of a prankster and she did not hold back when it came to her children.

For example, on his birthday one year she decided to embarrass him by inviting two people he had a crush on – Claudia Schiffer and Christy Turlington – to come and have tea with them.

She even got him a cake that was made to look like a pair of breasts, according to her former personal chef Darren McGrady.

Mr McGrady told the Daily Mail last year: “[Diana] never usually sent them cakes, but once she ordered a cake for William.

“When I came in for the evening shift I found there was a cake in the fridge in the shape of a huge pair of boobs with huge nipples on.

“I ran through to the butler and asked who ordered it and it was the princess for William’s 13th birthday – he’d just got into his teens.

“He had a super crush on Christy Turlington and Claudia Schiffer and her hairdresser, Sam Knight, knew them and got them to come to Kensington Palace and have an afternoon birthday tea with William and his big cake!

“Kate Moss had also been invited but she didn’t come.

“William was bright red and gurning all afternoon. The princess loved it, she had a great sense of humour like that!”
