Princess Diana said Tom Cruise 'was too short' says chef

Princess Diana made a wisecrack about a celebrity’s height after meeting them, according to her former personal chef. Darren McGrady had spent 11 years cooking for the late royal, including the last four years of her life. On his YouTube channel, he recalled a funny conversation they had about actor, Tom Cruise.

Mr McGrady told viewers: “We had celebrities at Kensington Palace all the time.

“She came into the kitchen one morning and said, ‘Darren we’ve had an invite to go and watch the making of Mission Impossible at Pinewood Studios in London’.

“It was for her to take William and Harry.

“Of course they were young then and they’d probably love the pyrotechnics and everything.”

He continued: “She asked, ‘Do you think the boys would be interested?’

“I remember saying, ‘I’m not sure about the boys, your Royal Highness, but if you get to meet Tom Cruise…’

“She said, ‘Darren, I’ll crack the funnies’.

“She came into the kitchen later that day she’d been.”

The former royal chef added: “The boys absolutely loved it, all those explosions and things.

“She came in, picked up some fruit, walked out and didn’t say anything.

“But as she was walking out she said, ‘That’s another one off the list, he’s too short’. She’d met Tom Cruise.”

The Hollywood star was only slightly shorter than the Princess.

Mr Cruise stands at 5’7, compared to Diana’s 5’8.

Prince Charles also clocks in at 5’8.

Prince William is current the tallest member of the senior royals at 6’3.

Prince Harry is slightly shorter at 6’1.
