Princess Diana spills TRUTH behind photo op after Prince William’s birth

The late Princess Diana and Prince Charles introduced their first son, Prince William, to the world for the first time on the steps of of the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital on June 21, 1982.

The Princess of Wales looked picture perfect as she carried her bundle of joy in front of a crowd of excited royal fans and photographers.

However, the late Diana said all was not as perfect as it seemed.

She said she was struggling to put one foot in front of the other, and was in agonising pain throughout the photo session.

In the book Call Me Diana by Nigel Cawthorne, the late Princess Diana described the moment: “When I left the hospital, I could barely put one foot in front of the other. My stitches were killing me. It was such a strain to stand there and smile even just for a few minutes.

“As soon as the car disappeared around the corner out of sight of the photographers, I burst into tears.”

Diana did it again two years later following the birth of Prince Harry.

After every royal birth, mothers and fathers pose for pictures in front of the birthing hospital – a tradition Princess Diana started since the birth of William.

However, Meghan Markle and her husband Prince Harry are not expected to do the same.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have revealed they will be keeping the birth of the royal baby private for a short time before they introduce their child to the world.

A statement of behalf of the royal couple said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have taken a personal decision to keep plans around the arrival of their new baby quiet”.

“The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”

Meghan and Harry await for the arrival of their first child, and preparations are already underway for the newborn.

The royal couple have already moved out of Kensington Palace to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor just weeks before their baby is due.

The cottage has undergone £3million renovation works to include a yoga studio, an elaborate double staircase and new grand fireplaces in several rooms.

Meghan, who is around eight months pregnant, has revealed her due date as around the end of April to beginning of May.
