Princess Diana: How Prince Harry would have left his mum ‘conflicted’ over decision
Senior members of the Royal Family met at Sandringham on Monday, to discuss the future roles of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The Queen issued a statement on Monday following the discussions. Express.co.uk spoke to a body language expert about the meaning behind the Queen’s statement, and what Harry’s mother Princess Diana may have felt about the turn of events.
On Monday Prince Harry met with his father, Prince Charles, and brother Prince William, for the first time since the bombshell news of the Duke and Duchess’ decision broke last week.
The crisis talks were widely dubbed as the ‘Sandringham summit’, and were intended to iron out the details of Harry and Meghan’s plans.
The Queen said via a statement from Buckingham Palace after the talks: “Today my family had very constructive discussions on the future of my grandson and his family.
“My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family.

“Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.
“Harry and Meghan have made clear that they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives.
“It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the UK.
“These are complex matters for my family to resolve, and there is some more work to be done, but I have asked for final decisions to be reached in the coming days.”
Body language expert and energy reader Alison Ward said she thought Diana would be “conflicted” over Prince Harry’s decision to step back from his frontline royal role.
Alison said: “I’m wondering what Diana would think.
“I feel she would encourage and support Harry’s decision but also be conflicted with the ‘royal duties’ aspect but then again it’s unlikely that Harry will become King due to his line.”
Throughout her statement, the Queen emphasises the word ‘family’, and refers to the Duke and Duchess by their first names.

The energy reader also said the Queen’s statement after the Sandringham talks showed the Queen is “torn between love and her Grandson”.
She said: “You can feel the reticence from the Queen in this statement.
“The young family is going against tradition and expectations and the Queen isn’t entirely happy yet she has known for a while that Harry has had his own personal and strong opinions about where his future lies within the Royal Family.
“The Queen is torn between love for her Grandson and his family and the royal duties expected of him.”
The energy reader also said she believed the situation surrounding Harry and Meghan was unprecedented for the Queen.
“It’s interesting that the Queen says she has “asked for final decisions to be reached in the coming days” meaning they are not her decisions but Harry and Meghan’s.
“Maybe the Queen isn’t used to waiting on others’ decisions.
“The whole energy of the text feels slightly frustrating, loving and partial acceptance on the Queen’s part.”
