Princess Charlotte’s first day of school: Kate, William and George to support the royal

Kensington Palace has opened up on some details regarding Princess Charlotte’s exciting first day of school – and royal fans will likely get a glimpse of all the Cambridges but not Prince Louis. Little Princess Charlotte will be accompanied to the prestigious St Thomas’s Battersea school on September 5 by her big brother Prince George and her parents, Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, the palace has confirmed.

To mark Charlotte’s first day of school, Kensington Palace will likely organised a short photo call ahead of the beginning of the lessons.

Prince George and Prince William took part to a similar photoshoot in September 2017, when the little royal began his first year at the £6,429-a-term school.

In the heartwarming snaps, a shy Prince George was seen wearing a school uniform and walking hand-in-hand with his father, with William carrying his backpack.

Princess Charlotte’s first day will also be extremely touching for Kate, who last year could not send off to school her eldest son as she was suffering from acute morning sickness, known as hyperemesis gravidarum, while pregnant of Prince Louis.

Princess Charlotte has demonstrated to be quite outspoken and cheeky in the past weeks.

In early August, she stuck her tongue out in public after a charity regatta organised by her parents in Cowes.

And following the christening of Prince Louis, the four-year-old even spoke directly at journalists and photographers waiting for the royals to leave the chapel.

However, Charlotte may feel intimidated by the new pressure of the rich curriculum her new school presents.

But, according to a royal expert, Charlotte won’t be left alone as she will have her brothers taking care of her.

Royal biographer Penny Junor told Hello! magazine: “Prince George is a very protective and lovely older brother.

“I’m sure he’ll look after his little sister and take great pride in showing her the ropes.”

The little princess has previously attended Willcocks Nursery in Kensington for almost two years, starting in January 2018.

News of Charlotte joining George at St Thomas’s Battersea school came in May, after Kensington Palace announced William and Kate’s only daughter would be enrolled there.

Shortly after, the little Cambridge was welcomed by the school’s headmaster, Simon O’Malley.

He said: We are delighted that the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge have decided that Princess Charlotte will join her elder brother Prince George at Thomas’s Battersea.

“We greatly look forward to welcoming her and all of our new pupils to the school in September.”

St Thomas’s Battersea school boasts a £19,287 a year fee and an outstanding Ofcom rating.

However, Princess Charlotte will benefit from a sibling’s discount, with the Cambridges to fork out £18,915 for her first year.

The school has an enrolment of 540 girls and boys – aged between four to 13 – and boasts a wide curriculum and after-school activities, including outdoor learning, music, drama and dance.

The latter subject will be taken on by Prince George this year, as his curriculum will involve weekly ballet practice.

News of the little royal taking part in ballet classes sparked hilarity during a segment of Good Morning America last week, but TV presenter Laura Spencer was forced to apologise after an angry reaction of royal supporters and leading personalities in the dancing community.
