The Monaco Princess, 44, has been absent from key events in the principality’s royal calendar in recent months. Charlene is being treated for severe emotional and physical exhaustion at a medical facility outside Monaco. The former Olympic swimmer started receiving treatment soon after she returned to Monaco from South Africa in November. During her six-month stay in her home country, she suffered an ear, nose and throat infection and collapsed in public.
Charlene required several corrective surgeries while in South Africa, which delayed her return to Monaco.
The Palace said in a statement last month her recovery is “progressing satisfactorily and very encouragingly”.
It also confirmed Charlene had been receiving “follow-up dental care”, which along with her recovery, is “expected to take several more weeks”.
Amid the Princess’s recuperation, she has been tipped for a “slow” return to public life by Brittani Barger.
The royal commentator, who is deputy editor of Royal Central, discussed Charlene’s royal role with Express.co.uk.

She said: “I think when she does come back to Monaco, she will slowly get back into the royal duties.
“But she never really undertook that many duties, to begin with.
“If she is back in time, I think she will definitely be there for the balcony appearance for National Day in November.”
Last November Charlene missed Monaco’s National Day, one of the most important events of the year.
The annual celebration, also known as Sovereign Prince’s Day, is held on November 19, marking the ascension of Monaco’s Sovereign Prince Albert II to the throne.
Albert, Charlene’s husband, appeared without his wife on the Palace balcony on National Day.
The couple’s young twins, Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques, held signs which read: “We miss you, Mommy.”
As she looked ahead to National Day, Ms Barger claimed Charlene’s time away from her children was difficult for the royal
She said: “I think we can all hope she will be back for that. With not knowing exactly what is wrong with her it is hard to say.
“But I think we can all hope that she will be back by then because she is a mother.

“She definitely has to be missing her kids. You can tell how much she loves and adores her kids.
“And they did go see her around Christmas. We don’t know if they were able to go and see her around her birthday or not.
“So, I’m sure she’s wanting to get better as soon as she can so she can be with them.”
Albert opened up about Charlene’s condition in an interview with People magazine in November, published on National Day.
He said her return from South Africa “went pretty well in the first few hours, and then it became pretty evident that she was unwell”.
Albert confirmed his wife was suffering from “exhaustion, both emotional and physical”.
