Princess Charlene, 43, couldn’t hide her happiness as she shared on her Instagram account a few pictures of her reunited family, who travelled from Monaco to South Africa to spend some time with her. In some of the snaps, the South African-born princess can be seen cuddling her children Gabriella and Jaques while Prince Albert, 63, smiles behind them.
Two other pictures showed the adventurous six-year-old twins perched on a branch they climbed.
The portraits were accompanied by a caption by Princess Charlene, reading: “I am so thrilled to have my family back with me”.
The Monegasque princess also joked about the creative haircut her daughter Gabriella showed off in the photographs.
She wrote: “(Gabriella decided to give herself a haircut!!!)
“Sorry my Bella I tried my best to fix it”.
The much-anticipated reunion was widely welcomed by fans and followers of Princess Charlene.
One commented under her Instagram post: “Glad you are all back together. Take care xx”.
Another said: “So happy for all of you.”
And a third added: “You must have been missing them terribly. Take care and stay safe”.
Princess Charlene and the rest of her close family last met in June.
At the time, Albert travelled to South Africa with the twins to see the princess and celebrate the birthday of Charlene’s nephew Aiva.
Princess Charlene travelled to her homeland in May to carry out conservation work, focusing in particular on rhinos.
However, she has been forced to remain there longer than she had intended due to an ENT infection developed after a sinus lift and bone graft held in preparation for dental implants.
A similar infection made it impossible for Charlene to fly and forced her to remain grounded in South Africa and undergo there three surgeries.
The most recent operation took place in mid-August, after which Prince Albert issued a heartfelt statement via his palace to update royal watchers.
It read: “The operation went well, Princess Charlene is resting and we are thinking of her with tenderness.”
The forced stay in South Africa meant Princess Charlene and Albert had to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary apart.
Before their milestone falling on July 1, the princess issued a statement reading: “This year will be the first time that I will not be with my husband on our wedding anniversary in July, which is difficult and saddens me.”
Signalling her relationship with Prince Albert remains strong despite the distance, Charlene continued: “However, Albert and I had no choice but to follow the instructions of the medical team, even if it was extremely difficult. He has been the most incredible support to me.”
In the run-up to their anniversary and on the following day, Princess Charlene publicly showed her love for Prince Albert by sharing a few videos with footage from their blossoming romance, their wedding and life together.
Charlene spoke again about her health issues in July, when she explained she “cannot force healing”.
She told South Africa Radio 702 host Mandy Wiener: “Initially I was supposed to be here for 10 to 12 days, unfortunately, I had a problem equalising my ears, and I found out through the doctors that I had a sinus infection and quite a serious one.
“So, it’s taking time to address this problem that I’m having.”
She added she believed she would remain grounded in South Africa until the end of October.
