Princess Beatrice and Edoardo, known among friends and family as Edo, are due to marry next year, as announced in September. However, the happy news of their engagement is currently being clouded by the backlash that hit Prince Andrew following his car crash interview with Newsnight. 

Some royal commentators, including royal biographer Christopher Warwick, have said the Duke of York’s controversy may force Beatrice and Edo to have a private wedding or at least a much smaller and less expensive ceremony than the one of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.

If the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson will opt for a smaller wedding, she has a perfect venue on her father’s doorstep, according to royal expert Marlene Koenig.

While clarifying that the Yorks have so far released very little information about the wedding and much of what is being said about the nuptials is speculation, Ms Koenig believed the All Saints Chapel would be perfect for a small wedding.

The expert told Express.co.uk: “If they wanted or were talked into a small wedding, All Saints Chapel would be perfect because it is located in Royal Lodge area. 

“Just speculation, however.

“They got engaged at the end of September and it is now nearly December and so far no releases, even with a date.”

The All Saints Chapel is a small Grade II listed church often attended by members of the Royal Family and located just a few minutes away from the Royal Lodge.

The Queen herself likes the chapel, and she often worships there when in Windsors.

However, Ms Koening believes there is a chance for Princess Beatrice to keep her wedding a private matter while still celebrating it in a church that has been attended by several celebrities and royals in the past two years – St George’s Chapel.

The expert continued: “They could marry at St George’s Chapel and not have a carriage ride, which would lessen the cost of extra security.

“The castle and grounds would be closed just as it was for Eugenie’s wedding, there would be no crowds gathering along High Street in Windsor to witness the carriage ride.

“The only viewing would be when the bride and her father after they leave Royal Lodge and drive the Long Walk to the castle.

“The reception would be inside, same for a reception at Royal Lodge, which is closed to the public.”

Beatice and Edo announced their engagement in late September, after they decided to get married during a romantic weekend on the Amalfi Coast in Italy.

The happy couple shared a joint statement upon announcing their engagement, saying: “We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement. 

“We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to be married.

“We share so many similar interests and values and we know this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness.”

Buckingham Palace has yet to release a date or a location for the wedding. 

But the mother of the bride-to-be confirmed her daughter can only get married in Britain.

As she was answering questions on the red carpet at the British Film Institute Luminous Gala, the Duchess of York quashed rumours the wedding could take place in Italy to homage Edo’s heritage.

Sarah said: “It can only be Britain and anyway don’t believe what you read.”
