Princess Beatrice wedding: Bea to make a ‘surprising’ choice on wedding day with Edo

Princess Beatrice is very well known for wearing dresses that make a statement, and it won’t be different on her wedding day, according to a celebrity stylist. Lalla Bronshtein believes the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson will not disappoint on May 29, when she is set to tie the knot with Edoardo, also known by friends and family as Edo.

The expert told Express.co.uk: “Beatrice is known for wearing dresses that make a statement, so I think although she will opt for a white dress, it is bound to be a bold choice over a traditional one.”

The celebrity stylist highlighted how the royal brides who came before her made very traditional choices.

Meghan Markle, who married Prince Harry on May 19 2018, wore a sleek Givenchy dress designed by British fashion designer Clare Weight Keller and created in Paris.

As revealed by Kensington Palace, Meghan chose Ms Waight Keller for her “timeless and elegant aesthetic, impeccable tailoring, and relaxed demeanour”.

The Duchess of Sussex also paid homage to her roots and the Royal Family by adding decorations and symbols which were a reminder of the Queen, the Commonwealth and her homeland.

Princess Eugenie, who married Jack Brooksbank on October 12, made an equally classic choice filled with symbolism.

Her dress was created by designers Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos and it presented a number of symbols that are meaningful to Princess Eugenie, such as the White Rose of York, interwoven with ivy.

But Ms Bronshtein said Princess Beatrice will take a different route to her predecessors.

She said: “Whilst Megan and Eugenie chose dresses that had a classic feel to them, Princess Beatrice loves nothing better than to surprise with her outfits.

“So, I suspect, her dress will be more avant garde and I look forward to see what embellishments have been added.”

Beatrice’s bold and surprising choice will have to be found in the style, the decorations and the details of the dress rather than its colours, the expert warned.

Ms Bronshtein believes the one homage Beatrice will pay to the tradition will be through the colour of her wedding dress.

She said: “I think she will respect the tradition by wearing a white classic dress in the same way her sister Eugenie did, but I think Princess Beatrice’s dress will have a bold, modern twist to it, to reflect her personality and signature style.”

Beatrice and Edo got engaged during a romantic holiday on the Amalfi Coast in Italy.

The couple shared the news with excitement in late September last year – but waited for five months before saying where and when they would marry.

In a statement released on February 7, Buckingham Palace said: “The wedding of HRH Princess Beatrice of York and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi will take place on Friday 29 May 2020.

“The couple became engaged in Italy in September 2019.

“Her Majesty The Queen has kindly given permission for the ceremony to take place at The Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace.

“The ceremony will be followed by a private reception, given by The Queen, in the gardens of Buckingham Palace.”
