Beatrice married millionaire property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a secret lockdown wedding last year. And the Queen’s granddaughter took on a new title on her big day as Edo is an Italian count, meaning she became a countess.
Speaking to the Daily Mail before the wedding, Edoardo’s father Count Allessandro Mapelli Mozzi said: “Edoardo is the only male descendent taking the family into the next generation.
“He is a count – his wife will be a countess automatically and any of their children will be counts or nobile donna.”
Beatrice and Edo, who is descended from Italian aristocracy, tied the knot last July in Windsor after their planned wedding was postponed due to the pandemic.
The Queen was among guests at the low-key ceremony at The Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge.
At the time, Buckingham Palace said: “The couple decided to hold a small private ceremony with their parents and siblings following the postponement of their wedding in May.
“Working within Government guidelines, the service was in keeping with the unique circumstances while enabling them to celebrate their wedding with their closest family.”
The couple announced their engagement in September 2019 following a whirlwind romance.
Edo proposed to Beatrice during a trip to Italy.
Their families have known one another for years and they began dating in autumn 2018 after meeting again at Princess Eugenie’s royal wedding.

Buckingham Palace announced Beatrice’s pregnancy in May.
The palace said the couple were “very pleased” to be welcoming their first child.
“The Queen has been informed and both families are delighted with the news,” the palace added.
Beatrice is already stepmother to Mr Mapelli Mozzi’s young son Wolfie, from his previous relationship with his ex-fiancee Dara Huang.
The 33-year-old showed off her blossoming baby bump during an appearance at Wimbledon last month.
Beatrice revealed her growing bump in a polka dot dress as she stepped out with Edo for the tennis event.
