Princess Beatrice engaged: A timeline of the royal romance with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi

Princess Beatrice is engaged to her boyfriend Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Buckingham Palace announced today. The couple officially started dating last year, after igniting their romance at the wedding of Princess Eugenie, and will be married in 2020 according to Buckingham Palace. Mr Mozzi is a family friend to the Yorks, and according to the Palace, the Duke and Duchess are very happy at the news.

Buckingham Palace announced: “The Duke and Duchess of York are delighted to announce the engagement of Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice of York to Edward Mapelli Mozzi.

“Her Royal Highness and Mr Mapelli Mozzi became engaged while away in Italy earlier this month.

“The wedding will take place in 2020.

“Further details will be announced in due course.”

Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli-Mozzi have a fairly “new” relationship, having got together at the wedding of Beatrice’s sister Eugenie.

The wedding in 2018 wasn’t the first time the couple met, however, as Mr Mozzi is a friend of the York family.

Mr Mozzi’s relationship with the Yorks comes from his stepfather Christopher Shale.

Christopher Shale was a British businessman with close ties to both Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson until his death in 2011.

Mr Shale died in 2011 after suffering a heart attack at Glastonbury festival.

Princess Beatrice and the York family were spotted at his funeral in the same year.

Edoardo and Beatrice were spotted together on several other occasions following the funeral before their romance ignited.

Mr Mozzi is understood to be Beatrice’s first relationship since she split up with ex-boyfriend of 10 years David Clarke.
