The Princess is engaged to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi who has a son called Christopher. A friend of Beatrice spoke to People about how the toddler is “very much a part of their life”. They said: “Beatrice has embraced the child as part of her life from the outset.”

Beatrice hopes to have her own children in the future, claimed her friend.

Mr Mozzi had Christopher with his former partner Dara Huang in 2016.

He shares join custody with the architect and designer who splits her time between London and Hong Kong.

Ms Huang said in a statement she was happy for Beatrice and Mr Mozzi soon after the couple announced their engagement.

A source added: “Edo is easily one of the best dads, he is so involved, and Beatrice is already showing that she’s a fantastic step-mummy.

“They’ve been on family vacations together with his son. They are really happy.”

Speculation arose last November if a romance blossoming between the pair.

They then made their public debut at a gala alongside Kate, Duchess of Cambridge.

Mr Mozzi, a multimillionaire Italian-British property developer, and his family have known Princess Beatrice for years.

Their families are very close and the couple reportedly started dating in September, just a few weeks before her little sister Eugenie’s Royal Wedding.

His parents, Nikki Williams-Ellis and Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi, said: “Edo and Beatrice are made for each other.”

Another source added: “It’s such happy news! All of her friends are delighted.”

The only royal family member of the previous generation to find themselves in the same position was Prince Charles.

When he married Camilla Parker Bowles in 2005, he became stepfather to her son Tom and daughter Laura – meaning Camilla became a stepmum to Prince William and Prince Harry.

A source told the Daily Mail Beatrice would never have become involved with him if his relationship with Ms Huang hadn’t come to a complete end.

They said: “She would never allow herself to break into another couple’s happiness, especially if there was a small child.”

Beatrice and Mr Mozzi are set to tie the knot in 2020 after announcing their engagement on social media.

The pictures were taken by Princess Eugenie, who got married last year to Jack Brooksbank.

In a statement released by Buckingham Palace, the Princess and her fiancé said: “We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement.

“We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to be married.

“We share so many similar interests and values and we know this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness.”

Beatrice had been single since 2016, when she split with long-term partner Dave Clark, who she had been with for a decade.
