Princess Beatrice married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a small, secret wedding during the UK lockdown. The wedding was held near Beatrice’s childhood home, the Royal Lodge, in Windsor. The ceremony was attended by a small group of guests including Beatrice’s grandmother, the Queen.

Like many lovebirds with plans to tie the knot this year, the pandemic proved an obstacle for Beatrice and Edoardo’s planned nuptials.

Originally due to take place on May 29, the lockdown scuppered the couple’s plans for a big royal wedding, complete with a private reception hosted by the Queen herself at Buckingham Palace.

But nevertheless, the couple chose to marry this year anyway, in a much smaller ceremony with just their closest friends and family in attendance.

Royal fans were delighted to find out Beatrice and Edoardo finally said “I do” this summer.

And now in a rare interview with the Financial Times, Edoardo has given a fascinating insight into his wedding day.

Edoardo spoke about the morning suit he wore for the big day, stating for the “rest of my life, every time I put on that suit I’ll feel happy”.

Edoardo also touched on how certain items in his life with connections to Beatrice have incredible significance to him.

In response to a question about the best gift he’s ever given, Edoardo said it was actually a present he gave to his wife that he was most proud of.

He said: “The best gift I’ve ever given is a bronze figurative sculpture, which I commissioned from my stepfather, the sculptor David Williams-Ellis, for my wife’s birthday last year.

“His studio is next to my mother’s house so we’d see him in there every day covered in clay.

“It’s so special for us to have a piece of his work in our home.”

Even more adorably, when asked what item he wouldn’t be without, Princess Beatrice was once again on his mind.

He added: “An object I would never part with is my wedding ring.”

Throughout his relationship with Beatrice, Edoardo has proved to be quite sentimental when it comes to rings.

When he proposed to Beatrice last year on holiday in Italy, Edoardo decided on a dazzling engagement ring he had actually helped to design himself.

Edoardo also designed Beatrice’s platinum wedding ring so it would sit perfectly with her engagement ring.

Over a series of meetings with jeweller Shaun Leane, Edoardo’s designs for the two rings came to life.

Mr Leane told PEOPLE when the two married “there’s a romance” in how Edoardo designed his wife’s rings.

He told the publication: “We designed the ring in platinum because we wanted it to aesthetically match and entwine with the engagement ring.

“The rings have been made for each other and there’s a romance in that.”
