Princess Anne to replace Andrew to ‘keep Queen happy’ – ‘She will loathe the attention!’

Princess Anne may find all the attention “shifted” onto her now that her younger brother Prince Andrew has stepped back from royal duties, when she celebrates her birthday next year. Royal commentator Angela Mollard told the ’Royals’ podcast that the Queen’s only daughter will “loathe” the experience, but have to endure it to “keep the public and the Queen happy”. This all follows the major backlash the Duke of York received when he broke his silence over his relationship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein and the sexual assault allegations against him.

Prince Andrew has denied allegations that he had any sexual contact with an American woman named Virginia Roberts, who claims she was ordered to have sex with him, aged 17.

The fallout of the Duke’s BBC interview also reportedly led to the Queen cancelling a large celebration planned for his 60th birthday next year.

Instead, the royals will mark Andrew’s February birthday with a “small family dinner”, the royal expert claimed.

And in the place of the publicised party, Ms Mollard said the focus would turn to the Princess Royal’s birthday.

She said: “Into the breach has stepped Princess Anne, who turns 70 next year.

“Good old Princess Anne, all the attention will be on her, which, of course, she will loathe.

“She’s 70 in August, and now apparently all the preparations that were being put onto Andrew’s birthday have now shifted onto Anne’s birthday.

“So poor old Princess Anne, who probably would just like to go and ride her horse on her birthday.”

The royal commentator added: “Now she has to have a jolly birthday that she probably doesn’t want, just to keep the public and the Queen happy.”

However, the heat around Prince Andrew’s scandal has heightened again after two witnesses came out to corroborate allegations from his accuser, Ms Roberts.

A key part of her claim was that she was in a nightclub called Tramp and danced with the Duke before they went back to Ghislaine Maxwell’s house.

The two witnesses told American lawyers that they saw Prince Andrew in Tramp club on the night Ms Roberts alleged they met and had sex.

However, the royal has denied all these claims.

The Duke told the BBC that he had “no recollection of ever meeting” Ms Roberts.

He said: “I’ve no recollection of ever meeting her. I’m convinced that I was never in Tramps with her. There are a number of things that are wrong with that story, one of which is that I don’t know where the bar is in Tramps. I don’t drink, I don’t think I’ve ever bought a drink in Tramps whenever I was there.”
