Princess Anne gives rare insight into ‘major similarity’ she shares with Prince Charles
Princess Anne has stunned royal fans with a revealing Vanity Fair interview in which she opened up about her lifetime as a royal. A “major similarity” between the Princess Royal and Prince Charles was exposed as a result. ITV News Royal Editor Chris Ship and Producer Lizzie Robinson discussed how this showed they’d both been taught the same thing from an “early age” on their Royal Rota podcast.
Mr Ship told listeners: “There was one major similarity with her older brother Prince Charles which is their love of recycling outfits and clothing.
“She has some outfits that she has worn in the 1980s and she still wears now.
“In terms of on the being outside and also re-wearing your clothes puts her in a very similar camp to her brother.
“They were clearly taught that in an early age.”
Ms Robinson added: “She’s well known for recycling and she says maybe it’s just because she’s tight.
“But also she does see the benefits and enjoys being able to recycle.
“She also refers it to herself as a dinosaur when she was talking about why young people need to go on screens when there’s so much to see outside.
“I loved it when she said that she describes herself as ‘the boring fuddy-duddy at the back saying ‘don’t forget the basics”.”
Both royal commentators also pointed to some “words of wisdom” that the Princess Royal handed down to the younger royals.
Ms Robinson told the podcast: “She said nowadays they’re much more looking for ‘oh let’s try and do it a new way’.
“She’s already at a stage of, in her words, ‘please do not reinvent that particular wheel, we’ve already done that, some of these things don’t work, you may need to go back to basics’.”
