Princess Anne and Sophie, the Countess of Wessex curtsied as they welcomed the Queen’s coffin to Edinburgh’s Palace of Holyroodhouse this afternoon. The Queen will remain in the throne room of the palace overnight. Other members of the Royal Family, including Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, looked on as the coffin was taken into the palace.
Viewers of the moment, broadcast on live television, left many royal observers emotional.

Her Majesty’s coffin will proceed to St Giles Cathedral tomorrow, to allow people to pay their respects for 24 hours.
