Princess Anne and Sophie visited the Westmorland County Show, a two-day event hosted by the Westmorland County Agricultural Society. And their joint attendance surely pleased royal fans, who took to Twitter to express their marvel and joy at seeing the two senior members of the Firm working together.

One royal watcher and US PR expert, who uses the nickname Royal Tea on Twitter, wrote on the social media platform: “Who had this duo on their list of dream joint engagements??

“Loving the ‘horse girl’ energy!”

Another royal fan highlighted how rare it is to see Sophie and Anne together.

They tweeted: “A rare collaboration of the Princess Royal and Countess of Wessex.

“Hoping to see more collaboration among the working royals”.

A third enthused about the joint engagement saying: “Joint engagement for Anne and Sophie!!!”

And another added: “How lovely to see Anne and Sophie together!”

During the event, the pair were photographed speaking to some of the show’s attendees and looking at the animals showcased.

The show, held near Kendal, brings together communities, showcases rural life and provides businesses a platform from which to trade.

Princess Anne and Sophie are among the 11 working royals the Queen can count on to represent the Crown.

In December, a source claimed the family was “exploring the possibilities in working with each other to highlight the causes dear to their hearts”.

Speaking to the Mirror, they continued: “They are working on opportunities for next year and beyond already.

“As soon as they are able it will be all hands on deck to make up for lost time.”

Indeed, Sophie and Anne have a shared interest in agriculture.

The Countess of Wessex is a keen ambassador for British agriculture, having been the president of the Royal Bath and West, the Royal Cornwall and the New Forest and Hampshire Shows.

Her tight bond with the Westmorland County Show was made apparent when she stood as President-Elect of the event taking place in 2017, four years after she started visiting the gathering.

Moreover, she is the patron of the Association of Shows and Agricultural Organisations, which represents agricultural shows across Britain.

The Princess Royal lives at Gatcombe Park, which is run as a working farm with a range of livestock including horses and cattle.

Princess Anne is also the patron of a number of agricultural charities and is passionate about farming issues.

In January, she took part in the Oxford Farming Conference in her role as honorary president and discussed with seven experts the challenges faced by farmers and the importance of sustainability.

Most members of the Royal Family have resumed their engagements this week.

Earlier this week, Sophie attended the Wessex Cup at RAF Wittering as the base’s honorary Air Commodore.

Yesterday, with her husband Prince Edward, she travelled to North Northamptonshire to the Corby branch of Home-Start, an organisation that promotes the welfare of families with at least a child under the age of five.
