Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle have been dogged by speculation about seeking to secure “celebrity status” with various deals after their departure from the British monarchy. Royal watchers suggested Prince William may face accusations of emulating the ex-royals in his new venture, the Earthshot Prize. The Earthshot Prize is a competition that rewards people who come up with innovative ideas to solve the biggest environmental issues.
On Sunday, the five winners of The Earthshot Prize will be announced by a line-up of presenters including The Duchess of Cambridge, Emma Thompson, Emma Watson, David Oyelowo, and Mo Salah.
Each winner will be awarded £1 million in Prize funding to help support and scale their innovations, with the potential to repair our planet.
On Royally US podcast, hosts Molly Mulshine and Christina Garibaldi discussed William’s upcoming event.
Ms Mulshine said: “It’s really cool, I think there will be a little bit of mumbling that it’s very celeby, and people are going to be saying that’s very Harry and Meghan of them.

“I think it does help to have all of these very loud voices talking about the very important issue.
“The one thing is they might not want to take any private jets.”
Ms Garibaldi added: “I agree, sometimes you need that celebrity power to take it to the next level.
“He wants people to be very involved in climate control and saving the environment and this is the way to do so.”

“I think it’s really cool, he’s finally going to crown his Earthshot Prize winner, we’ve been talking about these 15 finalists for quite some time.
“We’ll have a winner, some awards to see, and good music to listen to as well.”
Also at the ceremony, we will see Sir David Attenborough, who will speak about the importance of The Earthshot Prize and his optimism in “our ability to rise to the greatest environmental challenges of our time.”
The awards come in the same week that the heir-apparent to the throne, Prince Charles, has been very vocal about his worries for the environment.

In an interview with the BBC, the Prince urged world leaders to do more than just “talk,” at the COP26 summit later this month.
He also talked about his own efforts to help the climate, including ditching dairy and meat for one day a week and also having his 51-year-old Aston Martin converted to run on some surplus English white wine and whey from the cheese process.
The Prince will attend the COP26 climate change summit with The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke, and Duchess of Cambridge and the Queen.
