Prince William and his brother Prince Harry have been at odds in recent months after the Duke of Sussex’s royal exit in January 2020, reports indicate. The Sussexes left royal duties behind in search of a more independent life, but this allegedly caught the Royal Family off guard. As Meghan Markle and Harry sparked nationwide debate, they received backing from Amanda Holden, who even appeared to suggest Harry is her preferred royal.
She said at the time: “Honestly I don’t really understand what all the fuss is about because before Christmas the Royal Family announced they were going to slim down the Royal Family, just use the main players, and I would imagine that Harry and Meghan don’t consider themselves main players so all they are doing is stepping back, earning their own money and still going to represent us brilliantly abroad.
“It’s a shame because I feel that Harry is the more fun down to earth one so we’ll kind of lose a bit of sparkle I think but I think we’ll be able to watch from a distance. I think they’re going to storm it.”
Harry didn’t receive support from everyone however, as Amanda’s former Britain’s Got Talent colleague Piers Morgan criticised the decision.
He expressed his staunch opposition to Harry and Meghan’s decision, describing the couple as “shameless spoiled brats”.
Piers has continued criticising Harry and Meghan, and eventually left his job at Good Morning Britain in March after he refused to apologise for comments he made on air.
Ofcom received more than 40,000 complaints regarding remarks Morgan made about the Duchess of Sussex following her tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey – including that he “didn’t believe a word” she said about having suicidal thoughts during her time as a senior royal.
Meghan also claimed in the interview that concerns were raised within the family regarding the skin colour of her son Archie before he was born.
The controversy may have caused a split between the Sussexes and the Cambridges, but reports this week suggest they are trying to build bridges.
Harry and Meghan have “privately congratulated” William and Kate on their 10-year wedding anniversary, which was celebrated on April 29.
In celebration of their anniversary, the couple released a new video yesterday showing the family during a beach outing with their three children, Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince Louis, three.
