Prince William reveals Prince George’s ‘obsession’ – ‘He would be absolutely loving this’

The third-in-line is “obsessed” with tractors and he often plays on them with his sister Princess Charlotte and little brother Prince Louis. Six-year-old Prince George loves playing with farm’s equipment and tractors, his father William admitted as he was inspecting the Duchy of Cornwall with one of the farmers living in the area.

On the new ITV documentary ‘Prince Charles: Inside the Duchy of Cornwall’, Prince William said: “I should have brought George today.

“He would be absolutely loving this… He’s obsessed.”

Speaking with Mervyn Keeling, a farmer living in Prince Charles’s Duchy, Prince William also added how his other children, four-year-old Princess Charlotte and one-year-old Prince Louis, are used to play outside.

The Duke of Cambridge continued: “My children are already, you know, playing on the tractors and, like you say, it’s so important to get outside, and have the children understand nature.

Prince William is one of the royals appearing in the two-part ITV documentary, airing on October 24 and 31 at 9pm, focused on the Duchy of Cornwall.

The first part analyses the hard work done in the Duchy by Charles, who has become the longest-serving Duke of Cornwall, having held the title for 50 years.

The second episode focuses on the transition between Charles and William who, as the Prince of Wales noted, will eventually inherit the estate when Charles becomes King.

This thought forced Prince Charles to “confront his own mortality”, the heir apparent to the throne admitted.

Asked how he feels about the “succession” to William, he replied: “Confronting your own mortality is a very good thing for you, if I may say so, it’s quite good for the soul.

Prince William is learning about organic farming, how to deal with tenants, and how to continue to administrate the Duchy in the same effective way as his father did.

The 700-year-old estate provides Prince Charles with support for himself, his family and the charities he backs.

The estate made a profit last year of £21million from a diverse property portfolio which includes a B&Q site in Milton Keynes.

The way Prince Charles has turned the Duchy into a profitable business is praised by William in the documentary – with his words having a deep impact on the Prince of Wales.

Charles said: “I couldn’t believe it.

“I was deeply touched and moved by what he [William] said.

“It practically reduced me to tears, it did really because I suddenly thought… well just hearing that from him, has made the last 50 years worthwhile.

“I want to be able to potter round, you know on a stick, in my dotage, saying gosh look at this, you know.”

The Duke of Cambridge has already promised he won’t disrupt the job done by his father, affectionately known as the “boss” in the Duchy, once he takes his place.

He told the farmer: “Well rest assured I’m not going to rock the boat.

“I’ll do much the same as what my father’s doing.

“I’m not so into the architecture that’s the only thing.”
