In the interview with Oprah Winfrey, Prince Harry had numerous things to say about his older brother and father, as well as Meghan commenting on a misconstrued argument between herself and Kate Middleton. Speaking about his brother, Prince Harry said: “The relationship is ‘space’ at the moment. And time heals all things, hopefully.”

He added: “I love William to bits, he’s my brother.

“We’ve been through hell together, we have a shared experience, but we were on different paths.”

It is understood the Royal Family did not have access to the interview prior to it being aired and did not know what Harry and Meghan had said.

One royal source said “William was left reeling,” by the contents of the interview, in particular where Harry mentioned him.

They said to US Weekly: “He says it was a cheap shot to leak details of their private call and that he twisted the truth.”

They revealed William “now feels uncomfortable” talking to Harry, 36, on the phone.

The source added: “He’s putting himself at risk of the same thing happening again.”

The pair reportedly spoke, according to CBS This Morning host Gayle King, after the interview aired in early March.

She said: “Harry has talked to his brother and he has talked to his father, too.

“The word I was given was that those conversations were not productive, but they are glad they at least started a conversation.”

The brothers’ fractured relationship first emerged when Prince Harry admitted he and his brother were “on different paths” in an interview with ITV, prior to the Sussexes announcing their intention to step down from royal life in January 2020.

He said: “We don’t see each other as much as we used to because we’re so busy but I love him dearly.”

When will Prince Harry next see Prince William?

The brothers have not seen each other in person for more than a year, however upcoming plans may see the Sussexes fly to the UK.

In July Harry and William are due to unveil a statue in honour of their mother Princess Diana.

Due to coronavirus restrictions, this may be the first time the brothers will see each other since March’s explosive interview.

The interview didn’t just affect the brothers, however, as the Duchess of Cambridge also found herself mentioned when Meghan said Kate made her cry before her wedding in May 2018.

A separate source said: “The interview was particularly difficult for Kate to digest, but she’s pulled herself together and is staying strong for the Royal Family and her children.

“Kate’s an extremely protective mother and while she’s all about open communication, George, Charlotte and Louis are still young.

“Kate is definitely strong enough to get through this.

“She has a lead by example attitude, so it’s important for her to be a good role model to them.

“George and Charlotte are back at school, but she’s been spending her evenings with them.

“The children always brighten up her day, and she always says that when she goes through a difficult time, having her family there always helps.

“She feels so blessed to have her kids and a loving family.”

Meghan did clarify in the interview that Kate apologised.
